One of the most dynamic boy building platforms in the Big Easy is the ‘Son Of A Saint’ mentoring program.¬†Each year, Son of a Saint selects a group of boys ages 10-13 to join the existing kids in their program. The boys must be fatherless due to their father’s incarceration, death, or abandonment. When photos of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction over Houston, TX hit the news, Tony Ligon said his sons were mesmerized. “They wanted to help. They continued asking, what can we do to help those people,” said Ligon, father of a set of 11 year old twins in Baton Rouge, LA. The top bands across South Louisiana met on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA for the 2017 Louisiana High School Battle of the Bands. As the bands roared popular tunes from today’s hottest artists, fans and supporters packed the F.G. Clark Activity Center, better known as the “Mini Dome”, to cheer on their favorite band.
