Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, LA continues to set the standard for excellence in public predominantly Black High Schools. For three consecutive years, the school has received an A grade by the Louisiana Department of Education. The Press Conference was held in New York City at the Zype Building near Times Square.  “We are smothered in excitement from many of our family and dear friends who know this hasn’t been an over night leap of Faith. Monroe native Marie Brown believes it’s time to hear the drum beat again!  She feels we are no longer ‘tuned in with the Earth anymore’. She says, “everything everything has changed, music specifically and we are all out of tune.” Marie has started a group called Umoja, which is Swahili for Unity.
